As I worked on the portrait, I found myself returning to one detail again and again—her golden eye.
She seemed thoughtful.
Resolute.
Compassionate.
Powerful without seeking power.
I began asking myself who she was.
The answer became Justice DeMair.
Everything else—the courtroom, the cases, the Loop, and the questions about justice and accountability—grew from that single image.
