Where Justice Began
The character of Justice DeMair began in answer to my "What if?" question. The Loop the courtroom, the cases, and the questions about justice and accountability—grew from that single question.
I began to paint in 2023 and this image came to me.
As I worked on the portrait, the character of Justice and this woman converged. I found myself returning to one detail again and again—her golden eye.
She seemed thoughtful. Resolute. Compassionate. Powerful without seeking power.
Then I knew she was Justice.
