Veronica Boaz has never believed that life follows a straight line.
Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, she graduated from McGill University with a degree in Social Work and began her career as a psychotherapist, spending nearly a decade helping people navigate some of life's most difficult moments. In 1982, she made the courageous decision to begin again, moving to Florida with two suitcases, four boxes, a bicycle, and $800—determined to build a new life through resilience, curiosity, and hard work.
Over the decades that followed, Veronica embraced opportunities that few people would imagine belonging to a single career. She worked in modeling and video production, co-founded a film production company, managed a manufacturing facility, consulted with global organizations on transformational change, and later built a successful career leading large-scale technology and business transformation initiatives. Along the way she earned a Ph.D. in Management and Technology, became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), and Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and spent her career helping organizations solve complex problems and helping people achieve extraordinary results.
Yet through every chapter of her life, one passion remained constant: storytelling.
Her fascination has never been with crime itself, but with the questions that lie beneath it. What is justice? What do we owe one another? Can accountability and mercy exist together? Those questions ultimately became the foundation of Justice Is Not Blind and the Justice DeMair series.
Veronica's understanding of resilience is rooted in family history as well. Her parents were survivors of the Second World War. Her mother's family was almost entirely lost during the Holocaust, including relatives murdered at Treblinka, while her father served with the Polish Air Force attached to the Royal Air Force, helping support the Allied advance into Germany. Their lives taught her that courage, integrity, and hope are choices made every day, even in the darkest circumstances.
In 2017, Veronica published her first novel, Temporary Interest, and retired from corporate life to devote more time to writing, consulting, and lifelong learning.
Then, at the age of seventy, she discovered an entirely new creative voice.
After being told as a teenager that she had no artistic talent, Veronica picked up a paintbrush in 2023 and found a passion she never knew she possessed. Today she creates richly layered paintings inspired by people, animals, and landscapes, using multiple transparent acrylic layers to build depth, light, and texture. Her artwork reflects the same curiosity that shapes her novels: an invitation to look beyond first impressions and discover the stories hidden beneath the surface.
Whether writing, painting, or exploring new ideas, Veronica believes that creativity is a lifelong journey.
